DO NOT BE AFRAID
One of the enemy’s most popular weapons that is used against us goes by the name of “fear”. Worry, anxiety, FEAR, can overwhelm us and control our every move and decision through confusion, pettiness and vindictiveness.
The devices at work around us today - wars, conflicts, persecution, violence, crime, natural disasters, terrorism, economic uncertainty, unemployment, divisions, disease, death. Are not new to humanity yet, we fear for our children’s future, we fear for our families well being, and our communities.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
But through the power of the word this fear is dispelled. This fear that we become so familiar with, that latches on and creates an alternate reality a reality that has no peace a reality that shrouds you and i in the cloud of doubt in an attempt to darken our minds with worry and anxiety can be wiped out of your psyche with words of encouragement, enlightenment and faith.
Words of wisdom and mindful meditation on the scriptures can be powerful, and an awesome example of the ultimate power that God has readily available to us. Internalizing these scriptures in your heart and by speaking them out loud can cause an eruption in the spirit and give you peace and comfort. Practice this until those scriptures become so familiar, they replace the other things you battle with internally. There’s nothing magical about words and verses, but there is power through them because these words were ordained by God.
Change happens, as anxious thoughts begin to fade into possibilities. The tight grip of worry is loosened, and all though fear may lurk in our thoughts, it no longer wields the power of control over us , holding us back, paralyzing us in its grasp.
The scriptures bring the power of the word into our “life”, words that are soothing to our soul, calming to our spirit, and powerful beyond measure. These words are a shield and sword when attacked by the enemy. These words are mighty in the presence of the downtrodden and weakened spirit, let these words comfort you during times of uncertainty, doubt and fear. Let these words blanket you and warm your spirit knowing that you are not alone. Even though we might still feel afraid, we can believe that God is with us. We may not be in control, but we can trust the One who is. We may not know the future, but we can know the God who does.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~Isaiah 41:10
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6-7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7
